Ring Size Conversion Chart
Your Slide should be at least as big as your ring size. It will not hurt to have a slide bigger than your ring size, but it will not fit on your finger if it is too small. Different guitarists have different preferences on how snug they like their slide. They will also have different preferences on which finger they like to use it on, as well as which end they place on their finger first. Most players do use their ring finger. However a Pinky slide can allow you to use your ring finger for fretting as well.
If you do not know your ring size I have created a chart to help you figure it out. The second knuckle from the finger tip is usually the largest part of your finger, So I would measure there. One way is to wrap a piece of string around your finger and then lay it across a ruler to give you the circumference. Or you can measure the diameter, a micrometer can be useful for this method.
